I’ve always had a bit of a hand tremor, particularly on the right—and it doesn’t bother me shooting bows, guns, throwing darts, fencing, or anything like that…but it’s played hob with mousing, including touchpads. My answer has generally been a trackpoint (eraserhead) mouse on the keyboard or a trackball.
Finally have found a mouse that lets me put my thumb and first finger at an angle that negates the tremor. Very simple thing, but it’s amazing. No shake. And it works. Wasn’t cheap. But it also got rid of the cord that is another tremor-complication. I can do this. It’s amazing. I still like the trackpoint for writing. But for gaming, wow. The thing is a Logitech G700s, and I’m quite amazed to be able to make this thing work. In one sitting I went from—how on earth can I make this thing move the character around, what do you DO to make that happen? —to wow, this is nice!
Look out, world. I can mouse!
@ Chondrite — Thank you! Today, I received the mango jam you sent. … But the post office label covered half your return address. (You’d think they wouldn’t do that….) So, er, I need to get the city and possibly the zip code from you, please. I ~think~ I have your email address. Hah! The box was great and the jar arrived fine. 😀 Careful recycling.
I’ll try out the (mmm) mango jam tomorrow at breakfast. — That recipe I’d mentioned will likely use mango nectar from one of the canned juice brands. Good stuff for seafood and other things. — I haven’t yet bought (and peeled and cut) fresh mangoes, but they’re available here.
The étoufée kit I found is “Mam Papaul” (or Papoul?) brand. The étoufée was terrific! I’ll have the last serving at supper tonight. I bought shrimp, since I had frozen fish, but it was tuna or salmon, on hand.
For what it’s worth, I’ve had people from N’Orleans tell me that’s a good brand – they were referencing the King Cake kits, but I can’t imagine that their etouffe wouldn’t be good.
Etoufee is kind of a pun with Et tu te fait; stuffed and you break wind…
LOL, one learns the most intriguing cross-cultural things! 😀
(I hadn’t thought of that pun, but it’s so.)
PJ, thanks for the good recommendation. I’m going to pick up another étoufée kit or two to have on hand, and will try their other kits. I think they had a jambalaya kit and maybe a gumbo kit. (Basically, envelopes of spices.) A very tasty and cheap and quick way to a good meal.
I have a pretty good gumbo recipe, but have only fixed it once so far.
The last time I was in Louisiana, I had what might have been the best fried catfish, fries, etc. ever, at a roadside restaurant. I might even still have the card. We didn’t sample anything else, but I’m sure it was good.
Hey, not too much longer until time for the rodeo and Mardi-Gras here.
