Blew up. Froze. If I’d not been so tired, if I’d had the sense God gave a newt, I’d have hand-copied, but the autosave hadn’t gotten it, and I’d pushed past tired to input the edits I wanted, freehand, no written record, OF course, and then the friggin’ TSR that almost all computer companies install to help us manage our lives (when I i-dee this ‘un I’m going to call Dell and light up somebody’s ear in technical support—froze my program. And blocked the autosave.
I can fix it. Tonight I am going to work a mighty slaughter among the renegade priests and undead, because I am in that kind of mood. Much too tired and much too ticked off to attempt that scene tonight. I’ll fix it in the morning. Fortunately the bones of the scene are NOT lost, just the fixes for problems I’d delicately put in.
Arrrgh.
I thought you were a WordPerfect person. I’ve found its autosave to be pretty good. Depending on how its been configured I’ve never lost more than a couple of paragraphs. Operating systems may let you down but WordPerfect just keeps on chugging along.
Oh, yes, but a computer can hang up in ways that lock the screen and keyboard, except for one itty bitty x.
CJ, I’m getting spam-plonked. The first message I submitted has all the info (on Flash and Windows protection). The others were attempts to get around the spam trap.
Off-Topic: KFIR — (KFEER or KFIHR) Is a male name meaning “lion cub” in Hebrew, according to BehindTheName.com . I stumbled across this while looking up Kiefer (KEE-fer) because I’d run into someone with a last name pronounced with a long I. The KF consonants together (instead of KV) struck me as interesting.
“There is another system.” It’s called “Shumway”. It’s based on the new HTML5 standard. HTML5 is making headway–I can run YouTube videos. 😮 Shumway is an Add-on to newer versions of Firefox (I’m using 35.0.1.). I’ve been using Firefox (obviously?) since beta version 0.7.
Perhaps more relevant for me is: I can play TED videos! 🙂
