the page locked ME out, and I’ve finally gotten in.

Aha! I find Ctrl+Shift+R –kill the cache and reload–solves the problems.
Walt’s ctrl-shift-r forced reload has fixed MY lack of access to the page. I also updated plug-ins re-did the main ‘update’ and reworked my passwords. I think we’re back in business.
We’re still having issues. I have to hit that ctrl-shift-r to enable a log-in, which of course governs comments. We’ll have to fix this eventually, but meanwhile, if you want to comment, try the ctrl-shift-r thing to log in.
This post didn’t show for me before I followed suit.
well, it lets me post on THIS thread, but not on the previous thread. I’ve done the CTRL-SHIFT-R combination several times, and it says I’m logged in, but when I post, it doesn’t save it. Here’s another thing, I’m logged in on this page, and apparently, I can post, but if I click on the link to the previous thread “And the garage door is screwed again…”, it tells me I must log in to post….click on the link to this post and I’m magically logged in again…..
Okay, since I can’t post on the garage door thread, do you have one of those light-beam sensors that prevent the door from coming down (and actually reverse its movement to go back up) if something breaks the light-beam? If they’re not aligned properly, perhaps that’s preventing the door from going up, although I’d think it was more likely to prevent the door from going down, not up. You might consider getting a new opener, depending on the age of this one, the cost of repair/parts, and maybe a more secure signaling system than what’s on there now.
I’ve done the ctrl-shift-r onthis thread, the last one, and the main page.
It’s still flaky, but it does recognize me after it reloads, on all three.
I’m in now, too. How’s Lynn’s mother doing? Sending good vibes her way.
Oh in, finally!! I was going to wish everybody a happy Valentine’s Day: be a bit snarky to Hanneke because when I was in Amsterdam in 2015 pedestrians and cars had their respective rights of way but the bicycles were everywhere in what seemed to be chaos. And strongly plug the charms of the Ambrosia apple, even though they aren’t likely to be available in Washington yet.
How long was it before people started to realize that there was something wrong? I tried emailing baijo kabisu, but that was the only link I could think of to the community that didn’t go through wordpress.
Huzzah! And thank you, Walt, for the ctrl-shift-R trick. It took some button mashing, but I’m in (I hope). One funny thing is that this latest post doesn’t show up unless I go in to make a comment on the garage door thread, then it appears in the next post slot.
That was very strange; I posted about an hour and a half ago, my post went up, and now it’s gone again.
And… it’s back!
Amazing! But before I did it, only two postings were shown, but there really were, are now, ten.
And perhaps it only allows appended postings. I tried to tag one onto CJ’s suggestion above about using Ctrl-Shift-R for the interim, but it didn’t take.
Before I did it myself, that posting wasn’t visible.
Not so, I had to do the CSR to see them.
ditto. When I click on the latest thread, it only shows a few comments, and then, when I do the CSR, it shows the rest of them, and automatically logs be in.
It always shows the last screen you saw. It’s a weird glitch. I’m sure it’s a Word Press thing, but I’m out of fixes. It could be in the recent WP update. Or in the not-update of our WP template. Lynn actually has access to the wheels and gears of the server, so we’ll see when she geta a crack at it.
Lynn’s mother is doing better, which is to everyone’s relief. Lynn’s exhausted, and is taking a little downtime, well-earned: she lives in a town near her parents so she is front-and-center with everything, including the waiting and worrying. Things are, however, looking better.
I know the feeling of being exhausted…my father had to go back to the hospital on Wednesday of last week. I came in to check on him and couldn’t get him to wake up. Called the emergency services and they transported him to the hospital, he was there for 2-1/2 days. He got home Friday afternoon, and this time, I put my foot down, I brought down a futon and a stand that I have had for several years but no longer use, set it up in his living room, and now, he doesn’t have to go upstairs, he doesn’t have to sleep in the recliner, and I don’t have to worry about him falling down the stairs on a trip to/from the bathroom.
Fortunately, his nebulizer treatments and his shots are done. He just has to take the antibiotics for a few more days along with his regular medications.
CJ, I hadn’t seen this problem on my website, and I’m using the same WordPress theme you are. I disabled posts a couple of weeks ago because I was getting subscriptions from people I didn’t recognize, especially since they’re not even in my local area, much less members of the club which sponsors our website.
Anyway, it’s 6:11 PM EST, and I just clicked on the bookmark and it automatically logged me in and I see the last posts made. Maybe whatever it is has been fixed.
Nope! I had to do the CSR dodge just now.
Yay, the insurance company bureaucrats, not aclaimed government ones, approved my spinal injections for my sciatica. But Catch-22: I have to stop taking NSAIDs for 5 days, that I’ve been taking because I haven’t had the injections. I can get one on the 1st, but hoping that by Friday when I have to go cold-turkey it’ll have become bearable until the following Wednesday.
Try putting a Bengay pain patch on your tailbone and/or the center of the rear of the hip on the afflicted side. That may ease it. The nerve that’s at fault runs through a hole in the hip bone from back to front there before it heads for the leg. I found those patches when I was skating—helped a lot. If Bengay is too strong for your skin, try Salonpas.
Interesting … I saw four entries on this topic when I checked tonight. I hadn’t seen the topic before. When I logged in, I saw the replies … but the site insisted I wasn’t logged in. I logged in again, it still insisted I wasn’t logged in, so I tried the Control-Shift-R thing, and … I guess I am logged in, now.
Imagine me giving the whole business a stern glare.
Teasel, I’m sorry I haven’t been monitoring bajio.kabisu as often as I should. I did email directly to CJ about the problem though. That was good thinking on your part. I should have texted CJ on her cell phone, but didn’t want to disturb her over the weekend.
After I emailed CJ she put up this page but you couldn’t see this page unless you clicked on the previous page for the journal entries. Then this page turned up at the top of the page immediately below the picture where most people page back and forth between topics. Now stuff is actually showing up and once more I am able to comment. Hopefully, all will be fixed in the next few days.
I’m still having problems logging in. Having to use the CTRL+SHIFT+R thing to get in. CJ, I’m glad to know about the patch. About three days after I had the bilateral bone marrow biopsies I developed sciatica in the right side. Still ongoing, and I’m about to the point where I’m going for a lidocaine + steroid injection to see if that will calm it down. (I will have to drive 250 miles round trip in order to get it, though.) If I can ever get the appropriate person on the phone, I’ll ask her to set up a CT of that region too. Having such a major hitch in your get-along sucks bigtime.
