When I log in and then go to Site Admin, I am still logged in, but when I come back to the site, I’m logged out. A CSR automatically logs me back in again.
I can’t tell which version of WordPress you’re using, I am using 4.7.2 on my club’s site, and having no issues to the best of my knowledge.
additionally, when I posted my last comment, it logged me back out again. Another CSR automatically logged me in…..hopefully, with enough clues, Threadbender can find the issue and fix it.
oh, wow, I managed to log in at last, by performing extreme antics on ctrlshiftr with one hand and refresh with the other. it’s actually years since I made it in here, very nice to be back 🙂 hi everybody.
I’m a bit behind on the current state of things, I see what, two new Bren books on the horizon, Convergence and Resurgence .. Alliance Rising and Alliance- Union History, what are those? ebooks on Closed circle, I think, but content? (so annoying that the foreigner and alliance books aren’t available on Kindle in the uK)
I’m able to log in and hope that my post will “stick”. A comment about the weather should be innocuous enough, I hope. Yesterday was a record-breaking 70 degrees F (~21 degrees C), which is extremely warm for mid-February in south-central Wisconsin. Today, it’s in the mid-40s F (upper single digits C), and tomorrow will be cooler still.
Fortunately, the mulch I applied over our spring-blooming bulbs has worked well, because no green shoots have appeared. Some folks have posted photos of snow drops in bloom.
The ground is a muddy mess for the first 1 to 2 inches, and frozen solidly underneath. Our (temporary) version of muskeg?
It seems to have something to do with when you first opened a page; I mostly visit on my phone and can’t do Ctrl-Shift-R on that, so I haven’t been able to read the 3 things posted on de first page of these comments, after I first posted there. The number of comments to this post went down from 36 (on the main page) to 33 when I opened this post, and I could read the newer ones on page two but not Teasel’s answer to me on page 1.
So I tried it now on a laptop, anmd suddenly it sees 39 instead of 36 comments to this post. I logged in to comment on this post, and it gave me the second page to comment on, in a very different layout. Clicking on the Older Comments arrow gave me the first page in the old layout, with “Log in to reply” at each entry, and no way to do so. I used the Ctrl-Shift-R combination several times but it didn’t help.
So it looks likely to have something to do with if you’ve been logged in on that particular page-view before: no more back-and-forth discussions in one thread!
I’m glad you enjoyed the Amsterdam museums, Teasel! Did you see any more outside Amsterdam? The Kröller-Muller museum in the Veluwe national park is one of my favorites (it has a lot of impressionist paintings, and a sculpture garden), and Teylers in Haarlem (which has a gorgeous old library), and in Utrecht the Catharijneconvent (mostly for the cloistered walk, which you can visit without entering the museum) and the musical apparatus museum “Van Speeldoos tot Pierement” (From music box to street organ). Some ideas for if you’re ever here again 🙂
And yes, like most capital cities Amsterdam is overcrowded with traffic for the available space. It’s gradually diminishing the car presence in the historic inner city, as giving more space to pedestrians and bikes is badly needed, and a much more efficient way to move a lot of people in limited space, together with trams and buses and subways. At least bikes only very rarely get people badly hurt if you get hit by one; and mostly it’s just ringing their bells and shouting at people crossing where they want to be…
I used the Log Out option at the top right, it said You are now logged out.
I returned to the main page; this post showed only 35 comments, and mine is gone.
I tried logging out again and returning via the arrow: same results.
As soon as I open this post it shows me as logged in, and I seem to be able to comment at the bottom of the (still in strange layout) second comments page, though the Preview button doesn’t work.
Strange!
We’ve been having a bit of a storm today, with windgusts up to 90 miles per hour (130 km). The cyclists are struggling and often have to dismount when there’s a strong gust, or they walk a bit when it’s right in the teeth of the wind either out in the open or funneled between tall buildings in the city, though for the hardier ones not letting the wind get them down is a bit of a sport sometimes (there’s even a championship in biking against strong winds here! ).
Here’s a link from a notorious (unintended) windfunnel across a cycle path at the technical university of Delft – architects have hopefully learned something from these unintended consequences, as this old youtube-video was filmed at windspeed 7 (60 km per hour, or about 35 miles); but today on ordinary streets during gusts you had the same effect.
Though above the Reply box it says I’m logged in, when I try to Post comment it says: Sorry, you must be logged in to comment.
So now I’ll try to log in again and then post this comment anew.
I don’t think it worked, because the Preview button still doesn’t work.
Did the Ctrl+Shift+R thingy and… voila! Looks like Alliance Rising has gotten over the word count hump 🙂

It’s better but still wonky. I’m using the highest level of wp offered on my template. So we may be looking for an update of that.

Alliance Rising will be from DAW, already contracted. The Alliance-Union history will be on CC>.
but at the same time as I posted that it logged me out again and I couldn’t see my post. oh well, I can get back in easily enough …..
ooooh, and what is alliance rising …. ? a completely new story in the alliance universe?
Yes.
Got back in at home but can’t log in on my phone.
CS-r and I’m good to go. I probably needed to clean my cookies anyway

Wow, the control shift r thingy helped me log in. I’d been trying for several hours until I found that.
Hmm. Ctrl-shift-r gave me a totally new look, twenty-thirteen instead of atahualpa. I stayed logged in this time and was able to leave this comment.

Got in after a bit of a fight, but it sure looks different
