Sigh. Dear, dear Amazon. How I hate them. They’ve put it down as late Feb. shipping now in the UK – despite being pre-ordered for three months. This is becoming frequent with them in the UK. Third book in 4 months that slipped by months before delivery
Logically, I understand that publishing rights in different countries is a legal and contractual issue and blah, blah blah, and ebook rights are another kettle of fish, but I find it ridiculous.
If I have a long wait for a book I want to read in a country where it’s *already printed in English* (UK or NZ usually) I usually just order a copy from someone in that country from Ebay, and feel like I’m cheating the system. I mean it’s a physical book. The author is still getting the sale of a copy of the book.
Until the day of publication, Amazon was still stating it was going to arrive the next day. They did this for Steven Brust’s Vallista and two other books in the last year. When you then try and cancel it comes up with – in progress for despatch and cannot be cancelled. Grrr.
Couldn’t stand it. Started reading Emergence in bed last night. Had to bail out at about 2 a.m. because I kept nodding off. Woke up bright and early, and finished it. Loved the Cajeiri bits.
Please say there will be at least 2 more books, to round out the three, although there should ideally be 27 books. Very fortunate number, 27.
I started reading the other night, but was too sleepy and had to put it down. Alas. So I think I’m going to be busy reading when I pick it up later tonight. My reading habits are still too patchy, but I keep expecting something to slip back into place and return to my former regular reading habits.
There’s a used book which somehow got delivered to the gods-be apartment complex office, and remains for me (or friends) to pick up soon.
And…I really need to put together a prefab small bookcase to avoid clutter and space issues.
My desire for books has not curbed at all, even though my reading rate is still spotty. Go figure.
The audiobook for Emergence is not yet out, as far as I can tell from Audible.com. The ebook sure is, but in the USA, as Apf and others have noted.
I’m still excited that there will be two Alliance books and a history, still being written or edited, no publication date yet. But this is exciting!
Paid for my copy a few days ago. Was told it would arrive Jan 22. -__- I see the AusPost Delivery Tortoises are all hale and healthy still. They should employ some of those rabbits Australians are always moaning about, maybe they (the bunnies) would deliver mail faster!
Great, now I’m picturing the Aussie version of Bugs Bunny, a sort of Crocodile Dundee rabbit, doing mail sorting and delivery. There’s a left turn at Albuquerque, and surely an ongoing issue with Martian mail delivery. However, I suspect that delivery to Tasmania is fine, just a bit dizzy….
Hmm, would the Crocodile Dundee Australian Bugs Bunny be khaki instead of grey? Dressed in olive or khaki but still grey-furred?
Warner Brothers’ toon division is clearly missing out on this idea.
Oh dear Lord, I just had a flash image of Porky, Daffy, and Elmer Fudd in particular as Australian versions of themselves.
I suppose they have Australian cousins who are different characters.
Oh, I really think I stumbled onto something there. But I still wish they’d do something like this.
Also, I miss Marvin the Martian. Just saying.
Ahem, we now return you to your regularly-scheduled thread, already in progress. Technical difficulties. Brain with wires crossed.
Where’s the earth-shattering KA-BOOM?
You wanted more KA-BOOM? How about more POWIE? What, was it obstructing your view of Venus? Or Jupiter?
Ohhh. More KA-BOOM! So that explains why there’s an Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter! Bwahahaha!
…I suspect my Marvin the Martian voice needs work…
Audible version isn’t out yet, but I contacted the narrator and he says he finished recording last week and it’s on the way — though he’s not sure of the release date. –Excited!
So, its narrated by Daniel Thomas May — I had no idea he was an actor in The Walking Dead and other shows. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0561907/
Ooh, I never was sure if it was the same person or not, that’s pretty cool. I very much like his voice acting.
Audible now has this available for preorder. Release date is 02-13-18
