…wearing a ‘clinic’ free mask I found in a coat pocket meanwhile. And when mine come black, fabric—I’m going to have Jane paint or embroider a ‘smiling kitty’ nose on it. Those of you with cats are free to copy. 🙂 And dog fanciers, maybe a doggy nose with a lappy tongue?

@bcs If you decide to go for Facebook there is one add-on I absolutely recommend. Add Facebook Purity from any app store. It gives you the security tools and blocks out adds. Many of your concerns about security will be allayed.
I have never had security issues with FB (thankfully). I did setup an email dedicated to nothing but FB. Most annoying are FB’s algorithms for when they show post and in what order. Advertisements are there, but the official ones are labeled. One can also block individual ads or advertisers, as well as other FB users of course. The doggo and cat videos are worth staying for. I just read CJ’s afterword to The Game Beyond. Seminal to her body of work, and well worth reading.
Tell us more !
Melissa Scott’s The Game Beyond is available free on the Internet Archive, like almost all the works of CJ and those of many other authors. You’ll find it at:

CJ’s essay is on p.342 of this paperback edition. It’s an interesting take on her universe. Written 3 years after Downbelow Station, it gives an idea of the thinking behind it, and behind most of her later SF novels.
thanks I’ll check it out
