We had breakfast at the waffle place, crashed for an hour, and now Jane is making my birthday present, a ‘happy coat’, or short kimono-type wrap, because the fan in my working space is pretty energetic, and I’d be comfy if I had a light wrap. So that is what is happening today. We are going to game a bit. And watch a movie tonight. And maybe go out to supper for something other than spaghetti.
Happy birthday to me!

Huh: http://gizmodo.com/cats-are-happier-and-healthier-when-you-make-them-work-1786057743
We have several of these for Shu, who NEEDS to hunt. The paper bag is a neat idea—he’ll try to eat plastic ones. Apparently there’s an attractive oil used in the finish thereof. I throw his treat kibbles and make him hunt them.
Seishi will just stand at your feet and say, “Sorry. It went where? Can I have another down here, please?”
Nifty article: I hadn’t mentally connected the act of feeding our cats and their inherent “need” to hunt their food, that being a large part of a wild/outdoor cat’s natural behavior. Makes sense especially given that zoos spend a lot of time developing “enrichment activities” for their, in effect “confined to quarters” animals.
Our cat, Mousie Tongue (Mao tse-Tung) often self-hunts his crunchies, flipping them out of the bowl and then skittering/chasing them around the tile, kitchen floor… and under the stove, fridge…. I’ll have to try this paper bag & crunchies idea for him and the Foxtrot brothers and maybe succumb to a purchased gizmo or two eventually.
I’ve seen that behaviour!
Happy birthday, o Chiefest of salads! 😀
Thank you all! Had a lovely day. The ‘happi’ coat is not yet finished, but close, and we may continue the celebration today.
Did the e-mail from jacquielawson.com arrive in your inbox? It’s not spam….. 🙁
I’m glad you got the card – TWICE! LOL…..
Might one request a picture of the coat when completed?
Of course we all know what the “mon” on the back will be, right? Actually shouldn’t be that hard to produce by stencil.
Alas, wish I could repro the mon– the embroidery would be killer, however. And the fabric has a pattern, so it’s not traditional…
Doubt it would’ve been embroidered. I ‘spect they were silk-screened, i.e. inked or painted. But how about appliqué?
Appliqué quilted with layers inside for a 3-D effect? 😉
I’ll stop now before I make Jane mad. 🙁 Ideas are easy when somebody else has to make it work! 😉 But that’s an Aspie for you…
THe only thing I know is that Dell may continue to have Win 7 pro until they run out.
Only on non-“Kaby Lake” systems. Microsoft won’t support anything but Win10, unless they get such a ration they’re forced to “rethink” this.
Print it on iron-on transfer paper. (You’d want it flipped before printing, so it comes out right-way around.)
Off on a wild tangent, but it appears the EM drive has passed at least one peer review:
http://www.iflscience.com/technology/rumored-emdrive-paper-suggests-the-controversial-thruster-actually-works/
Interesting. I note that a warp field is produced. I hope the drive doesn’t dig itself a hole it can’t climb out of. Um…that would make the whole conservation of energy bit work out. I hope not!
🙁 Since we all depend on personal computers, many of them do fail and need replacement, may I mention, with Intel’s announcement of it’s forthcoming “Kaby Lake” processors, Microsoft has announced they will only be supported by Windows 10? So if one were to find a need for a new computer soon, and preferred Win7, etc., it ain’t gonna work that way. Forewarned is forearmed, eh?
Of course, this is not to say that Kaby Lake will only be supported by Win10! One can be sure Linux will run on them. 🙂
No, can’t be quiet! It’s like Aspies to “think outside the box” and got an idea how it can be done nice and easy. OK, maybe this is how a seamstress would do it.
Trace Bagi-Nagi on some thin tracing paper. Lay a couple layers of cloth on the back, topped with the contrasting exterior fabric, and the tracing paper. Pin it securely. Sew along the pencil tracing. Rip off the tracing paper. Cut the appliqué closely along the stitched line. Stitch over the edge again with a wide crossing stitch that covers and secures the cut edge. Quilt the layers together.
Not so bad! Maybe except for the pointy bits.
Think outside the box
To think I spent years training myself to…
There is a product for that! It makes your applique iron on!
Happy birthday!
And, Hippo Birdies 2 Ewe!
Definitely would like to see the Hapi Coat. Is this from the FolkWear pattern?
Happy birthday
Dies natalis felix esset!
