—and half a food of snow and still coming.
I’d gotten into a nice rhythm with the cats going outside for a couple of hours, returning to a snack, settling down —and now—Shu is sitting beside me staring out the window in total disgust. The kitties have NOT applied to go out today.
It’s in the high 30s here, and will be near 60 on Friday…..we had a bout of snow last week, not a lot, but enough that I pulled out the snow blower and get the neighborhood driveways and walks cleared out…..
Now, rain is forecast for today, tomorrow, and possibly Friday with the warmer temperatures…Saturday will be slightly cooler, in the high 40s.
Winter is strange…..
Your Honor, it must be perfectly clear that the cats were not offered the opportunity to patrol the big, big room today. Therefor, Q.E.D. ipso facto, they must be provided snacks in any case!
But snow is so good for demonstrating the levitation aspects of feline physics! Crossing a small stretch of snowy ground to reach an undercover bare patch without actually touching down with any paw.
We had a couple of inches of the white stuff last night (now rapidly turning to slush) The crocuses are no doubt confused.
On totally another topic, have any further decisions been made about another Shejicon? I have to start plotting time off for the coming year p.d.q.
Alas, it is not going to be possible this year. Unexpected dental work is about to start, our carpenter has had a relapse, our intended garage sale is not organized yet, I’m three months behind on this book, and all in all—we just haven’t got it in us. Fond thoughts to all of you—we are staying home from conventions generally and just trying to get caught up both schedule-wise, house-wise, medical-wise and financially.
We shall simply have to be content with occasional picture updates on the fishies, garden, cats, and other such happenings. I don’t think anyone would deny you writing time! Sometimes you need time off to recoup from everything, and Shejicon has always been an extra privilege.
Thank You!
On a side note, how do you prepare a food of snow? 😉
(Nice typo there in the post)
Lol—I’ll leave that. We haven’t had food of snow since the atomic test cloud drifted over Oklahoma…
We had a little light drizzle or something early this morning – not enough to make noise, but enough that the pavement was damp when I took trash and recycling out to the bins.
Went to lunch with an old friend – he’d brought me a UPS he doesn’t need – and had yellow curry soup with chicken. I got rice noodles, he got egg noodles. Slightly spicy, very very tasty. The bowl is nearly quart-sized, and I couldn’t make it through half, so I now have a pint of soup in the fridge.
My parents had cats that would go out in the snow – I think they enjoyed it, at least for five or ten minutes.
Poor Sei campaigned finally to get out, ran for the door and stopped real fast when confronted with a half foot snowbank… Shu came and looked as Sei oozed back in. No. Nasty. No way. Please take it away.
My first cat ever, Pooka, loved the snow (and water of all kinds: that was how he got his name. I’d just read Faerie in Shadow). He never seemed to care about the cold or the wet.
I went out to lunch with a long-time friend who brought me a UPS for my computer – it’s one he didn’t need – and a good time was had by all. Yellow curry soup at a Vietnamese/Thai place!
(Also, the UPS batteries, despite being more than 10 years old, charged right up.)
A belated Happy Valentine’s Day to all! — Yesterday was simply an off-kilter day for me. Not even any particular reason why. But later in the day, I did get a bit done, besides a pause for laundry, so all in all, well…nothing romantic, alas, but it was OK. Coulda been worse. (Purposefully skipping news lately.)
Hahaha, Shu and Sei’s reactions to the snow. Cats are (usually) so fantastic!
