Some of our newer voices are getting lost in the to-and-fro. Let’s try this.
I hate to be Twitter, but…10-line limit on posts, please.

Fair enough. I’ll try to keep it down to a dull roar 🙂
Not that I have a vote, but I’m in favor of the change; more like a real life conversation where everyone gets a chance to contribute and feels welcome to join in.
OK, No prob…
10 lines?
No problem…
My best posts are one- liners
OK, no problem…
Ah, well. I had thought of posting the Washing Machine Saga, but think the better of it now.
Reasonable change. …. How goes the writing ? I miss the updates showing the eb and flow of words as the work progresses.
Surviving. House remodel stalled by Covid-19. House a complete warehouse of things that belong somewhere else, and cat furniture designed to keep kitten from destroying everything. Temperatures are sweatshirt level most of the time. I have had to cancel actual attendance at World Fantasy this fall because Jane and I are both in 2 of the high risk categories. I will be so glad to see construction giving way to findng places to shelve or donate everything that is where it’s not supposed to be. We have 2 chairs more than we need in the living room and boxes and furniture for downstairs blocking one window, and I can’t reach the basement sink to take care of the marine tank so it’s on survive-what-can.
O noes! Well, best fishes to you and Jane and all the felines, and one hopes that most of the coral and the motorized clam survive, at least!
We have been on stay-at-home since late March, and people are starting to get stir crazy. We don’t get much in the way of winter where cabin fever gets enforced by blizzard fiat; it doesn’t help for people to see blue skies and ocean and beaches, but only through a window or from a lanai! If people are out and about, it’s supposed to be with PPE, and for good reason. I would still not like to trade it for the possibility of friends and family, wherever they may be, getting the plague and horribly sick, or even dying.
Will comply…. Glad WA seems to be flattening their curve. Stay safe.
I get really tired of my own company. Almost everything I say, I already know or think…
CJ, I miss hearing from you here. It’s good to know how you and Jane and the crew are doing. I’m mostly lurking for a while, and will keep any posts shorter.
Peppercorn and kittens may get to Special Pals, pending hearing further, as shelters are reopening. The new dumped kitten is slowly doing better, but needs almost constant care and contact. So we’re very bonded. Still undecided about name, Pippin or Pounce Sterling or Raga Muffin or some other unguessed.
No news yet on possibility of the rent house. No repairs done yet on the apartment; I’m waiting to resubmit plus new request until the Peppercorn family are off to new homes. My website restart is still pending.
Cattus will inform you of Cattus’ name. Hope you are able to get to the new house soon.
Mama Peppercorn and her 5 kittens went to Special Pals, a no-kill shelter, today so they can be adopted out. They were not doing intake, but after talking with me, took mercy, so the cats will get placed when it can happen. The vet’s office is to send records, and I emailed and sent a printout of notes, bios, and if my email and Dropbox did right, and if I set Dropbox right, then they will get the photos, or else I’ll have to resend. I came home and did a round of cleanup, to finish tomorrow. I miss them but they needed to go to new homes. Budget will no longer be insane, maybe.
Huzzah! I knew you were stressed over taking proper care of la familia, and making sure they found a good home. Very glad the saga has a happy ending. Now you can reassure Goober he is still Top Cat, and work on integrating the squeaker into the household.
Too late to edit, but for the time being, no more spare cats, KTHXBYE
That is good news!
Well. Goober may appreciate being the big, dominant, knowledgeable mentor to poor little Scamperus.
Ben, I’m very pleased that you’ve found such a good solution for Peppercorn and her kittens, and hope that you’ll soon have as good a result for your house move.
I hope the new kitten is still doing well and bonding with Goober. Any news on Mystic?
Goober’s still not sure they’re gone. I miss them but am very glad they can get new homes; it was way too much for me, as much as I love them. Goober is still not sure he likes this little guy, but he’s better than he was the first few days. I don’t know yet if they’ll make friends, but I’m hopeful, and the kitten can learn by example how to be a cat. I’m seeing just how much I don’t know and how hard it might be to teach him so he grows up with good behavior and nothing missed. He is slowly getting better, but a long road ahead. He’s very anxious to be in contact; even the carrier means cries of fear of abandonment. But of course it has to be at times. I’m debating if he needs a checkup, but leaning toward, he’s OK. Haven’t kicked the flea problem yet and have to empty each bedroom, do the carpets again, and hope. Seriously bonded to the little one. — Positive side-effect: I’m giving Goober extra love because the kitten needs so much, and I feel like Goober’s been shortchanged lately.
Good move, BCS! A quieter household will benefit both Goober, you & the new, wee fellow.
Woops, wrong place. I was going to suggest a name for the special needs kitty. There’s a cat in one of the Ilona Anrews Innkeeper books called “Ripper of Souls” which I think is a hilariously cool name, but he’s a big grey Maine Coon tomKITTY. . .
Very good choice. This will increase readability greatly.
I haven’t been at my workplace for 7 weeks now. 2 weeks closed, 1 week home office, one week off, one week home office, another week off and the last week again home office. Next week will also be home office, and nobody knows how long it’s going to take.
Restrictions are slowly being lifted here in Germany, most shops are allowed to open again. Infection rates are going down, but as long as there’s no cure, life will largely remain online. Restaurants and churches are still mostly closed.
Stay healthy (and sane) 🙂
Ektus.
HI all – hope everyone is safe and sane. 10 lines – how about ropes, or hawsers, or even cables. I have been home way too long.
And of course there are queues – with social distancing of course.
Jonathan, slowing going bonkers up here in New Hampshire
Both mom (aged 95 and in very good shape for her age) and I are doing OK. The only real change in my post COVID life is grocery shopping — have felt very self conscious about buying for the month like I usually do — don’t want to seem like a hoarder — balancing that against buying less more often, thus increasing my risk. I’m in a couple of risk groups myself. Have wondered how you and Jane are doing. Let us hear from you more often.
Amen!
CJ I like your suggestion and love your update. I think being in isolation makes us all alternately too quiet & too wordy as well. We continue to be entertained & amused watching the growth speed of the little lettuce & herb plants in the hydroponic garden. The root growth is astonishing. BEN: What a relief & great outcome for you and Peppercorn and family! I know it was difficult, but Mission Accomplished! We’re not going out; Son-in-law, senior paramedic, didn’t feel well a few days ago; his colleague was taken to hospital with Covid 19; still he “didn’t meet” testing criteria & “CDC isn’t returning test results anyway”! A long nap helped, he’s OK … for now.
I like the new rule! I haven’t seen so many different people posting. Good to see you all post!
I mostly stayed home anyway, but still going stir-crazy. (It doesn’t help my permanent depression, either. Been eating the wrong stuff and gaining weight.) Blowing that stimulus check: e-books and some donations to Good Causes. Still have to get car tuned and smogged….
I’m good with the 10 line limit, of course I’m also a Twitter user so it feels like a lot of room. I feel your pain from the remodeling; we turned our kitchen, living room and dining room into a great room last fall. Cooked in the basement for 2 months, but it was worth it. Hope your crew is able to come back to work soon.
So good to see CJ and hope she posts more often. So good to see many people posting. I miss that. Thanks for all the well-wishes about Peppercorn and family. It’s a relief. It was a difficult choice regarding each of them. The new kitten, I hope will fit in fine. My gosh, the constant care needs right now; good when he can outgrow them. Such a sweet cat. — Now news yet about the new house, so I’m nervous. I may end up renewing my lease at the apt. :-/ Must do something if it goes past June 22nd, my renewal date.
It’s already getting hot here in Tx panhandle. Already had a couple of 100 F/37.7 C days. 101 F /38C on Star Wars Day (with 24% humidity), for crying out loud. I’ve hauled out the pedestal fans and I have rearranged the freezer to accommodate about 10 ice trays and I have gotten out my 32 oz/0.9 L stainless steel water bottle. As if I needed one more reason to stay inside. May the AC be with us.
Tattooine-like weather in TX, and a blizzard in the NE. No, global climate change isn’t a ‘thing’…
We’ve hit summer in L.A. – as of two weeks ago. Cooler this week, fortunately – I have a medical appointment on Wednesday. (I think. I haven’t heard it’s been rescheduled or anything, yet.) But 98 at Burbank Airport means it was at least that hot here.
It may be getting hot in the Texas panhandle, but yesterday in parts of the Northeast & Canada it was snowing! Here, just outside of Boston, we had morning snow flurries that turned to rain; My Mom & friends in the New Hampshire seacoast had snow squalls that even led to a bit of brief accumulation on the ground for a bit. I bet NosenDove in more northern New Hampshire had a fair amount of snow! It’s still windy and cold here today too. I haven’t planted my summer bulbs yet, despite having received them weeks ago from the bulb company people, because it has been so darned cold! I don’t trust any little shoots not to get nipped by frost.
