Those are the infamous koi. Maddy is the white one. Ari the gold. Byakuya is the black one.
Koi’s faces are a little strange when they lengthen their faces to get a mouthful.
The 3-finger operation continues, but at least we have something readable. If I keep this, I’m going to move the menu to the sidebar. And we lost the echo of comments, as if I *need* to know what *I* said, which is perfectly evident in the large type. But at least this one has a bit of ‘me’ about it. I’ll see if there’s a sidebar widget to manage the comments.
I still have to hit Ctrl-Shift-R to be able to log in and see all the posts, so I’d say that the theme is not the problem.
Something must have been changed or upgraded to cause the problem. Do you have a backup of the site at a point where it was still working? Have you backed up the site now, both WP files and and database?
Did my previous comment actually post?
This is odd. My super short posts succeed, my longer ones fail!
Let’s try this (third attempt) as a Reply rather than a new post. I am experiencing the ctrl-shift-r requirement as well. There appears to no longer be a login link/button on the home page any more, one has to select a specific comment thread and click the “You must log in to Reply” link.
When I do click the link, I get the login popup, my cloud password app (LastPass) fills in the blanks, I send it, the main page does not refresh, doesn’t “know” I’m logged in until I do the ctrl-shift-r thing. Now that I think about it though, I ought to see if a simple page refresh (F5) accomplishes the same thing…
The login button is now your name in the upper right corner.
That is AFTER I log in, not before.
That’s certainly where you have to log out – but if you’re not logged in, you don’t get that.
I guess not. Take Two. I am having the same issues. Also, it appears that there is no login link/button on the home page, I have to pick a specific comment thread and click the “You must log in to Reply” link at the bottom there. I get the pop-up, my cloud password app (LastPass) fills in the data, but the page doesn’t refresh, doesn’t accept that I’m logged in, until I do the ctrl-shift-r — although I ought to see if a simple refresh of the main page (F5) fixes that as well.
Okay there seems to be some sort of maximum length being enforced on posts. Ridiculously short. Twitter-style? Short posts succeed, longer posts fail silently.
Longer than twitter. 255 characters maybe? 2xTweet?
A whole lot of things are happening that shouldn’t be.
Agreed. Would like to email Threadbender directly to share screencaps, describe my experience and details of my browser, OS (Linux), etc. Could this be arranged? Get you out of the communication path so you can get back to work 😉 Ignore my email if not yet read, it’s basically same request.
When I came to WWAS, the PREVIOUS entry showed up, not this newer one. I had to click NEXT to come to this spot. I also had to CSR before I could log in, and saw NO comments until I did that. I have no advice, but do have patience until this is worked out.
I don’t know if Threadbender is using this site for answers, but I’ve found it useful for my own WordPress site questions:

Maybe a detailed description might generate some solutions?
I noticed that you’re using Twenty Eleven for the theme, too. No particular preference, just that I was curious and did a check. That was one advantage of taking those two WordPress courses last fall.
Regarding having to reload to see that you are logged in, it could be the WordPress installation is configured with some sort of caching, which is not working correctly.
New theme but something is still fishy.
I read in NewsFox. Had to open in new tab. Wouldn’t let me log in, but when I did CSR it logged me in automatically and gave me a “leave a reply” box. I kind of like the new template, too.
I like the pix of the Infamous Koi. I’ve kind of been pissed off with WordPress ever since they highhandedly went to that new editor and made me have to use the Columbus method* to get to the editor I like. Everybody wants to make everything compatible with smartphones and tablets, and to hell with us old fogies who still use desktop PCs. That’s what Windows 10 is all about. Needless to say, I’m still using Windows 7.
Sorry, forgot to explain the *
*Columbus method — going east by sailing west.
Hmm, just leaving this here to see if I can comment.
