The ones we have, that is.
Since they list every other parameter on their website but weight.
The answer is 45 pounds. Yay! Jane and I together could have done it if it were twice that, but we’d so much rather lug 45 pounds than 90.
We’re also hoping the installers had the decency not to strip a majority of the screws.
We’ll undo about 12 screws on each panel, leave the fence posts standing, and arrange and prop the pieces in a smaller ring from garage to side fence, then from side fence to house. Then we take down the big one that runs from garage to driveway gates, then to the front gate, then to the house. Hopefully this will not be too big a deal.
Getting them to stand up…we’ve got a few cinder blocks, some garbage cans, and various things we may be able to use as props. By the time we finish Rube-Goldberging this perimeter fence into some sort of fence-ness, it should be its own burglar alarm. Touch it and Lord knows what will happen, but it’ll be noisy!
Gravity proving, once again, just who is in charge. “Trespassers will be flattened…”
Love the verbing (verbization?) of ‘Rube-Goldberg’. Both evocative and creative.
Isn’t everything ending in -ing a gerund? I’m too long out of grade-school to be sure.
An -ing used as a noun (or as a substitute for an infinitive)is a gerund.
Skiing is fun. It’s fun to ski.
An -ing used as an adjective is a participle.
Sam is a skiing fool.
Hope the wind doesn’t get up!
Reno, one of my “homeworlds of convenience,” features what they call the “Washoe Zephyr.” Locals claim that you can tell when it’s upon you by the rattling of the rocks as they roll around!
😀
We’re not quite that bad, but a patio table and umbrella can go airborne. We get them up to 50 mph, but 40 is the usual limit. The good thing is, mostly our air is well-behaved. Leaves will stir, but nothing flies!
The National Weather Service is predicting windy conditions today. I’ve already measured wind speeds of 20mph and gusts to 30mph at my weather station here at the house. There is a chance the gusts could go as high as 40mph. I’ve therefore taken the patio umbrella down and laid it on the deck. I’ve watched the recycling tubs and trash cans go sailing by, too, as the winds pick up.
Went out this morning to put clips on my rain gutters, got the first one on, started to tighten the screw and the clip warped out of shape….they’re hard to get in place anyway, but this just frustrates, since the gutter is being held up by the 10″ long gutter spikes driven into the ends of the rafters. That’s not a very secure way of holding up a gutter, and there are places where the drip guard doesn’t seal and water drips down behind the gutter. I’ve taken some silicone gutter sealant to those places, but won’t know if it worked until it rains again.
