…worse, it’s her mousing/gaming finger.
That’s how she puts it.
Poor thing was shifting rocks in the rockwork edging, and a big one came down on the end of her right index finger. Really smushed it bloody. She made it into the house, asked for help, just about to pass out. Ice, a sit-down, and some Excedrin (Tylenol combined with aspirin is what the web-meds say, which fits Excedrin Migraine, and just bandage and ice.
So that’s what she’s doing.
She was out there because she had just finished the days-long primary edit on Visitor, and I had just taken over to do the final pass…and smushed her finger, about equivalent to shutting it in a car door. There was blood, there are already bruises, and she is icing it and keeping up the Excedrin. She says it is much better now, but it’s a nasty, nasty whack.
Oh, eek! — I recall my broken toe, and an E.R. visit for a cut finger, both now a few years ago.
Therefore, my sympathies. Ouch!
Jane, please feel better soon and please be careful.
We prefer you both in one piece. Er, one piece each. Ah…say, that was badly phrased….
Be well, you both!
Ouch!
Youch! At least it wasn’t her driving finger. Maybe you don’t use that as often as here around Boston. Get better soon, Jane!
Hey, not even 5 more weeks……I’ll be there, I’ll bring my work gloves, and I’ll help with rocks, bridges, hoses, etc…..
Ouch! So sorry to hear about Jane’s accident. That had to hurt a lot. Hope you feel better soon.
Oh, ouch, Jane! Fingers hurt like the blazes and damaging one messes up your ability to use that hand well. Try elevating it too, to reduce pressure on it (that’s always worked for me when I did something dumb to one of my fingers). I hope you don’t lose a nail!
Oh, just thinking about it makes me hurt. You have all my sympathy and best wishes for a speedy recovery, Jane.
I remember smushing a thumb in the car door, years ago. Not fun. (I also had a smushed-by-rock finger when I was a kid – that was worse.)
Jane, please take good care of yourself. Make sure you are not wearing any jewelry that might constrict blood flow in that extremity. Hopefully, you will have recovered full use of that finger and be out of pain by the time we roll into town for ShejiCon.
Ouch! And Oh noes! Not the gaming finger!
I don’t get my fingers mashed too often (I’m usually very careful about my grip and the way I’m stacking and holding things), but I did manage to get my palm (the meaty bit under my thumb) trapped between two concrete blocks while I was building some planting beds recently. Left a nice little bruise for a few days. That one felt REAl good. 😉
Been there, done that, not once 🙁 but twice! ;( 🙁 Both required the ER, stitches for what wasn’t “hamburger”, and one required the removal of the nail first, which was then tacked on with a stich in each corner. There are times when German engineering and the fit of the bodywork of a BMW isn’t so great! 😉 I can’t imagine NOT going to the ER for something as described.
please go to the doctor to make sure there I are no hidden problems!
I totally agree with Aja Jin, having had my experiences.
Not the most important digit one possesses! I could not function without my mouse finger. It’s just not the problem gaming (although that is at the top), it’s the problems using the computer at all. My Razer Deathadder mouse allows me to switch it to a left hand configuration, but not being ambidextrous, it really slows me down.
Hope the finger heals quickly.
Yikes! My right index finger got smashed by my grandmother’s 1949 Buick Super’s door 62 years ago and I can still feel it.
Especially now.
