Geez, it’s quiet here!
HALLO… Hallo… allo… lo…
It’s been uncommonly quiet, but I’m hoping that just means people are very busy. I’ve been checking in when I can.
I think everyone has been watching the news and wondering when the asteroid is going to strike.
Suffering from “buyer’s remorse”? There’s a lot of people that need to take to heart, “It’s not all about you!”
Yeah, it’s hard to believe that with all the interesting people that lurk around here, nobody is doing anything …well… interesting. Me, this is displacement behavior to get out of a bunch of typing, filing and ironing. Maybe I should say something ignorant about linguistics, popular physics or anthropology and sit back and watch the fireworks.
Typing, filing, and ironing? 😀 OK, but if you’re ironing what you’re typing, before or after (during?) filing, that could be, well, y’know…. 😀
Asteroid? Heh, with everything that’s been going on the past few weeks, I’m hopin’ any asteroids are keepin’ their ever-lovin’ distance.
An asteroid, for instance, would be one heckuvan ironing solution for that filing and typing…. :grins:
Waiting for ReadyGuy to get back home after cross-country trip to move ReadyDaughter from Arizona to Virginia. His first flight has made it to his transfer airport (early even) but he’s not made it to the gate to disembark yet. After his layover he will still have about another two hour flight to get to our nearest airport and then 75 minute drive home… So many places where his itinerary can be blown out of the water… Once ReadyGuy is home I’ll be able to relax and spend time on social media, etc.
Hopes for a safe flight (and drive) back home.
I just finished replacing the original strings that came on my classical guitar when I bought it last December. I’ve never done nylon strings before, the steel strings on folk guitars are much easier, but now that I know how to do it, I’m not as intimidated as I was before. But I did find that I had my jaws tightly clenched throughout the whole process.
I had a classical guitar for a while. Replacing the strings wasn’t that big a problem. (It’s usually the wrapped strings that go first.) Tuning it was a nuisance though – I kept a tuning fork in the case.
This was my first time changing nylon strings…and the guitar isn’t a cheapie, so I didn’t want to do any damage to it. It’s now the morning after and they were down a whole step across the fretboard. My instructor told me that she wanted me to change the strings just before my next lesson (which is tonight), but not to use overtension just to get them “set”. There’s a definite ease to doing it, but the steel-string guitars are still easier – loosen the string, pull the peg, put the new ball-end in, replace the peg, wind on the post, and go on to the next one.
I can definitely tell the difference in the sound quality this morning, though.
Glad ReadyDaughter’s move seems to have gone well, and best wished for ReadyGuy’s safe return.
The lanai support pillars have been replaced and all seems to be peachy in that department, but I believe I did a little too much home improvement and threw out my back. I finally went to see the quack on Friday over lunch. He was supposed to call a prescription for a muscle relaxant in to the pharmacy, but apparently forgot and I didn’t find this out until I went to pick it up after work. I had to call the clinic and convince the on call doc and nurse that I really was supposed to get some drugs for my bum back. I waited for an hour and a half at the drug store for the clinic to get my prescription sorted, with a merry game of phone tag ensuing between the pharmacy, the clinic doc and the nurse. The waiting corner at the pharmacy probably looked like Thor was sitting there, with the fulminous thundercloud I was generating the longer I sat.
Be wary of “muscle relaxants” and aware the gut is a long muscular tube! 😮
Given the choice between the spasms my back was having and digestive issues, I’d rather fix the back first. This was only ever intended to be temporary, to convince my back muscles the crisis was over and they could shut up now.
