Welcome to the new look
Wave Without A Shore
It’s a work in progress but everything should work now
On the clans
Somebody asked me about the five Padi Valley clans: the ones commonly listed are Taiben, Atageini, Ajuri, and Kadagidi---so what is the fortunate fifth? I repeat the answer here: "Dur does function as a fortunate fifth. The real fifth was Sheiji. When an association...
Resurgence now available for preorder on Amazon
Haven't got a pic I can load yet, but one is on the site. You get to see the Red Train.
Ah, the egg industry.
The eggs come from various species, but the most 'domesticated' is a ground-dwelling lizard that favors river banks, and over-lays like mad. So long as the lizards are well-fed, they produce eggs. Lots of eggs, the over-do strategy of some species that would have you...
What about Birds?
I thought it might amuse you (many of you do read the Foreigner books) to get a little window on the worldbuilding. You'll notice, absent their own Chicxulub event, some things are different about the Earth of the atevi. No birds, for one thing. A few things militate...
Still writing….
Making good progress. THis means the house is a disgrace and the yard is a mess, but writing is going on.
Bodexpress—the weird year—
Well, the jockey is embarrassed, Bodexpress clearly has an energetic takeoff out of the gate, and did his best to do his job for the day... The Derby was weird. The Preakness was weird. The weird goes on. I don't watch horse racing. I will not watch a race until I am...
Jane and I Had Our 5th Wedding Anniversary Yesterday
And our garden pretty much looks as it did that day, when we used it for our location. The orange/fire colored azalea is twice the size it was, we have glorious blooms out of 4 tree peonies, the red hawthorn is festooning its branches in pink like a Maxfield Parrish...
The morning air is pleasantly cool and smells of flowers…
And the pond is crystal clear. We now have the garden under control. The house---not so much. There are still stacks of boxes in the kitchen as high as my chin. But it's useable. One of these days Jane and I are going to declare an Organization Day and start trying to...
Found out what happened re Foreigner scheduling….
My fault. And it's complicated. I usually, when finished with a book, email it to my editor/publisher. But she happened to be in the middle of the Atlantic ocean when I finished, on a boat, and I was not so sure about e-mails. So I waited. And started the next book....
2nd doc
Doubled Jane's med, told her to come back for an MRI in a week or so, and an appointment in about 2 months. She will be the most vetted heart patient in town. Our health care in Spokane also involves a Multicare operation that is pretty smooth: computerized records...
Went to a wedding yesterday, two friends from Jane’s resin-kid hobby…good folks….
Meanwhile Jane's had some cardiac problems, and sensibly went to a cardiologist, which turned up some irregularities. A pill seemed to solve most of it. But they ran a hospital test Thursday---which is where our time has gone, an angiogram, which she reports as not...
Restaurant disaster…an oldie we used to like. Glug. And the fire department…
THought we'd skip the pub, where alcohol can be involved, it being only lunch, and ate at an old favorites. They changed everything: mine turned out to be chicken with cabbage, not a great combo, and Jane's had something wrong with it.. And then..we got home to find a...
