It’s totally bollixed up. Stay with us We’re working on it. The login button is now in the upper right corner, your name.
seems I can act as admin, but can't 'comment' because I can't log in.

It’ll let me read older comments, but I can’t access new ones. It tells me to log in even if I have just been to the admin screen. Go figure. Then if I come in by clicking on the ‘logged in’ status of ‘howdy, cj’ up in the corner, it seems to think I’m logged in.
Testing, testing. Again, didn’t automatically come to the newest blog post but had to navigate here using NEXT.
I had trouble logging out last time – that required the three-fingered maneuver to verify, as well as using the log-out in the top right corner of my screen.
Whatever happened, it’s major.
Well, I don’t see the “log in” or “log out” at the top right corner on my screen. I’m using Chrome Version 56.0.2924.87, and Google says it is up to date.
I suggested to Threadbender to check the WordPress Answer Desk to see if there are any solutions. I don’t know what all Threadbender is doing, nor do I wish to interfere in the process, but if Threadbender can use the Answer Desk and give a more comprehensive description of the problems, symptoms, and workarounds, there might be someone out there who has a solution.
I haven’t seen this problem on my own WordPress site, and I’m using WordPress.org’s software, same as you, as well as Atahualpa for the theme. I don’t have posts activated for comments, so there are no log-in capabilities on my site.
I’m wondering if it’s one of the plug-ins or a widget that got updated and messed things up.
Logging in or out is not the issue. When I first visit the site after opening my browser, it shows me logged out, but if I press ctrl-shift-R it shows the latest posts and then I’m logged in without having to go to log in page.
The issue is caching. When this is solved it will solve the login issue.
See what WordPress has to say here:
https://codex.wordpress.org/I_Make_Changes_and_Nothing_Happens#Server-side_Caching
“Be aware that some web hosting services use caching plugins on the backend without letting the user know explicitly. You may be able to turn this off via your webhost’s configuration panel. To be sure, you can ask a support member for your webhost if any caching plugins are used, and request that they be turned off if needed.
This situation may also occur if you are using a Managed WordPress hosting plan. Many Managed WordPress hosting plans use server-side caching. If you are using a Managed WordPress service from your hosting provider and you are seeing this issue, you may want to see if they have an option to manually flush the cache. In many cases, your changes will immediately show up after flushing the cache. “
I suggest contacting support at your hosting service, and see what they have to say.
I don’t see the login function in the upper right….however, I have this site bookmarked in Chrome, and when I opened the bookmark, it said I was logged in.
I have not noticed a similar problem with Jane’s site, and I believe you were both using Atahualpa theme. Why did hers not mess up, but WWAS did?
I don’t see the login/logout button either. If it’s all the same, if WP will let me stay logged in, I think I would rather not do that dance. Despite my Chrome bookmark, I changed to the new theme here; Jane’s site, OTOH, has not changed.
Wait! I just acquired the login button. We’ll see if WP will let me post.
Having ticked the “remember me” (or whatever it’s called) option, I can post. Obviously 🙂
But I still have to force a reload (shift + click on the reload button for mouse users) in Seamonkey to see the latest messages and to get the black bar on top of the page (the one where my user name is displayed at the far right end). That bar is missing when entering any page for the first time.
It seems that I have to “log on” for each page by performing the Ctrl-Space-R salute, but then I stay logged on for the length of my session. Curiouser and curiouser… Especially since I log off each time I get out of a session. Now I’m afraid I won’t be able to get back on if I do log off. Oh well, today is my (binary) 100000 th birthday and I’m sitting back with a Dry Fly whiskey.
meant to say Ctrl-Shift-R although Ctrl-Space-R shows my true status at any moment (logged in or out).
I couldn’t see the login, but I logged in to reply and then did the Ctr R thing and I’m in, will just repeat every time I am logged out . love the pretty fish
That’s still difficult to log in.
Got this far on my phone, will it post?
When I come to the site, it shows the Home page listing the latest posts. It said I’m logged in, okay so far. When I clicked on the “17 comments” on the first post, it takes me to your journal entry sometime in August 2009…..hmmm…well, if I click on the title of the post, then it brings me to the right post.
Any way you can get the word “Comment” to be transparent so it doesn’t have to be deleted? I don’t recall if that’s a feature in WordPress or not. I’m still not completely sold on this template, but it’s not my site…..I’ll adapt.
