I’ve known for a few weeks, but they’ve now announced it. Yrs truly will receive the honor at the Nebulas in Chicago to be followed by an autographing open to the public, as I understand it.
I didn’t achieve this without the kindness and loyalty of my readers.
Well, ah! that first pattern is available for up to a 48 inch bust, so I don’t have to alter it much for myself!
What’s Jane wearing for the ceremony?
Ahhhh Finally able to log in, thank you. Now I can offer public Congratulations on a well deserved award. And join in on the general merriment. Wish I could be there to see you get the award, but alas am already booked on a different trip that weekend. And Chicago is my hometown! Enjoy. I’d go with the red silk pants and earrings..although the jacket and lace is a good choice too…
Holy Clothing is a good place to look. http://holyclothing.com/index.php/ I will refrain from suggestions, although I think there are some pieces that would be a good base for the spectacular outfits you deserve.
That is a cool web site for clothing!
John Scalzi posted a series of photographs to his Flickr account. There are a couple of CJ receiving her Damon Knight Grand Master of Science Fiction Award.

Wonderful; at least now I can put faces on the names of so many authors I enjoy reading. Most of these people I wouldn’t recognize in the checkout line at Costco, despite my appreciating their work for years.
Really awesome. Humanity in endless variety. I would not have known most of these authors if I saw them in person, and I see there are quite a few I haven’t read before, which means I could be in for a treat. Several treats.
It’s funny how most of us fans / readers tend to think of authors as somehow these great wizards, sages, celebrities, and yet, the few I’ve met, or their posts online (such as here) are very ordinary, regular folks. OK, albeit with a tendency to invent whole imaginaty worlds and imaginary friends (and foes) in their heads, but hey, why not? 🙂 And seeing these photos, I see some very regular folks, some who are attractive or unusual, and some whose names you wouldn’t expect to go with their faces. 🙂
I notice there’s a slightly better representation of women and of not-so-Caucasian folks than I at first expected. Good to see that. It’s also good to see where those lines are blurred more, since too many people, various groups, still put too much emphasis on that. (Yes, I notice I’m not immune to that either.)
I was surprised and pleased at some of the things there: a man with painted fingernails, a woman with a shaved head, more than one couple who might be LGBT, and other such variety, but people enjoying being together, being a bit different as writers of SF&F, speculative fiction.
OK, there must be a name for that particular kind of hat, not quite a top hat, 19th century era, I think.
I thought Joe Haldeman was older than he looks there. 🙂 He and his wife look great.
I’m still looking through the photos. Many thanks to Joe Scalzi for sharing those with fans. — I get a kick out of his blog, but I haven’t been there in a while; shame on me. 🙂
(I still wonder who the very tall, very silver-haired thin, regal woman was whom I saw at one convention some years back now. I should’ve asked, but we were in an elevator. LOL.)
Isn’t it time herself was back?
Not if they’re driving…..she didn’t say how they traveled to Chicago…
Chicago, eh? If they were flying, maybe they’re still in line.
