An update however is saying that there is a chance it will ‘only’ get to 102. But Tri-Cities is forecast for 109. That’s brutal.
Still, folk down in the Tricities (Pasco, Kennewick, Richland) swear they like heat.
Not so much, us up here in Spokane.
They’re saying cloud cover and possible rain.
Which means 102 with humidity.
Monday will be, maybe 96. I am really not ok with heat. Over 72 and I melt. I had heat exhaustion one too many times as a kid in Oklahoma.
Our anniversary gift to ourselves was canopies over the patio. THis now seems a very nice thing.
Thank All Which Is Merciful for basements
I could’ve swon I entered a comment and it was accepted. Did the spam filter get hungry, or did I trip something? Just wondering.
Ouch — 39 degrees is brutal. They’re saying we’ll get to 32 (90F) over the weekend, and that’s bad enough. But qualitatively different from 39.
Stay hydrated, stay in the shade and try to keep as cool as possible. And don’t forget the ultimate cooldown – a trip to the mall. 🙂
Living in Arizona for over 35 years, you have my profound sympathies. I detest summer. Our monsoons are ramping up early thanks to El Nino, so we’ll start getting the humidity as well. Love the wild thunderstorms, but hate the heat. We had such a mild and long spring with completed unheard of weekly rain all of May — highs in the mid 60s and then literally in one week it was over 30degrees hotter and kept getter hotter and all the grasses and ragweed bloomed with gleeful abandon. Allergy season is now in it’s 6th month with no end in sight and I’ve spent the last 3 days in the field
Did I mention that I detest summer?
Los Angeles offers sympathy.
I love summer, generally, but the older I get, the less I like humidity. It doesn’t usually get to 100 where I live (although we do get 90s). First time I ever experienced that temp was at a con in West Virginia, back in the 1990’s. I went outside to commune with the sun god 😀 and see what 100 degrees felt like. Answer: Like a heavy wool blanket had been thrown over me. I didn’t stay outside long.
OT: A poster at Making Light just put up a recipe for allium-free paella.
Thanks!
