A nice fence, yes. For a year or more. Got it for a wedding gift to each other.
And yesterday, a ring of the bell and a nice lady wanted to know where we got it.
We told her, told her how much, gave her the tour…
Three some hours later, a young man rings the bell, admires our fence and wants to know where we got it…
I swore if there was another in one day, I’m loading the gun. This is getting weird.
May all your weirdos be peaceable and unalarming. Sometimes you just get a run of ’em.
I’ve already had a Craigslist nibble on the air compressor that didn’t sell at the yard sale; he’ll be coming by on Thursday to check it out. I’m somewhat miffed at our local Salvation Army, who seems to have exceptionally high standards for donations. They rejected both the shelving unit and chair I brought them. Both went out to the curb with a ‘FREE’ sign, and were gone within a day. OTOH, Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore happily accepted all the home improvement odds and ends I brought them. Slowly but surely, all the clutter is disappearing. Lori, who brought over a bunch of her craft supplies to sell, went home with under $100 in profit after the sale, but is philosophical about it. She’s putting anything that didn’t go up on ebay.
And the rearrangement/cleaning of the Captain’s Cabin gave Zorro a new perch where she can see out the window. Incidentally, this keeps her away from Junior too; fewer hissy fits is better.
Perhaps they were looking for a dealer in stolen goods? After all good fences make good neighbours….sorry!
Lol!
*snork*
Um – spring? Or early birds for April Fools?
Oh, humans are odd. My mom’s art store was there from the time I was 6 years old until I was 17. Some time in junior high, we got a *big* lighted sign for the roadside. We were in between the old highway and the new highway that replaced it, and the street had more through traffic than one might think, for the edge of the city limits at the time. Even when I was in high school, the year before we moved, we’d still get people who’d come in, “How long have you been here?” They said they drove by all the time and just saw us. Bbbiiiggg sign. Gig letters. There for 11 years. You’d think people would notice….
OTOH, my mom did regular postcard mailouts to existing customers, whenever there was going to be a SALE or discount or what-not. They’d bought a small mimeograph machine for this. Typewriter + Carbon Paper + Mimeo = …whole lotta postcards! 😀 — This pulled in repeat customers regularly who wanted a good deal on something or other. — However, this was right before when big warehouse chains (Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, etc.) came in and really did a number on the mom-and-pop shops, indie artists. (Mom’s store was one of a few that could last, but they got out of the business probably at the right time. Still, I felt she was always happiest and at her best with that shop.)
Lesson? Hundreds of people can pass by a place every day and never even notice. Really odd, isn’t it?
So perhaps the spate of people admiring your fence are just waking up to the world around them?
Hmm, Some photo somewhere from a neighbor or real estate agent, out there on the interwebz, maybe? Who knows. But as long as they *like* the fence….
