…reviews were mixed.
Seishi, who will dart a door and race madly away, escaping under the gate with no idea where he’s going…[dimbulb]..
and Shu, who will ooze out a door and roll on the sunwarmed pavement…
both sat there in the fairly large pen in distress, sure they were being abandoned to the wild.
On the other hand, they were getting rowdy in the house.
It seems to have been salutary. They’re much quieter now they’re back inside, sleeping it off, or finding things to do that don’t involve objects on shelves…
Ah, there were experiments in Kitteh Gravity… *shove* *smash* Yep still works here… But you know scientific experiments must be repeatable… Yeah, better try it again…*shove* *thud*
My grandparents had a resident cat who was big on those. Odd-eyed male white Persian, and, as is usual for that gene-set, deaf. Watching things bounce (or not) was a lot of fun for him. So was sitting on the fence watching the dog next door (cat was on a leash/line setup outside).
Somewhere I have cat rules of living, which include the need to be in the other space, no matter that the wish to be in that space was just insisted upon.
There’s something about the longer days and warmer weather that turns our three into hyperactive maniacs. I keep wanting to build a Kitteh Catio….just have to figure out a place to put it!.

The type, at least.
Folds, featherlight, portable, holds litter and water and food and kitty can’t escape.
Even though they look longingly out the doors and windows, the three of mine can’t go outside. It’s not just my rule, although I’m the enforcer, it’s the shelter’s rule, as well. When I bought them, I signed an agreement that they would not be allowed outside. So far, I’ve been pretty lucky that they haven’t escaped. The biggest problem I have with them being outside is the mosquitoes and possible ticks in the grass. I could put them in a pen on the deck, but they’d be yowling and wailing, plus, I can’t catch Sophie to put her in there, anyway. I’m waiting for the first time I take her to the vet, I’ll have to bring a first aid kit with me. It’s happened with other cats, I’m sure I’ll have it happen again.
When I had a feral cat living in my house, I used to throw a sheet over him and stuff sheet, cat and all in the carrier. I have no idea what the vet did with him when I left him for the day while I was at work, but they seemed to be able to deal with him. I don’t know why, but as long as the cat couldn’t see due to the sheet he was calm. There was often some chasing involved getting the sheet over him, but once he couldn’t see me he was okay, even though I was touching him and putting him in a cat carrier. Go figure. It might work for you and eliminate the need for the first aid kit.
Poor Sophie is so skittish though, she manages to get into the smallest places where a sheet or blanket or towel would be ineffective. If I move even a little bit, she is poised to run. I think eventually she’ll settle down, I’ve had her and her sister only about 20 months now, and it took another cat of mine, Ruthie, almost 4 years to get to where she’d come to me. Patience is the prescription, and yes, I’d like to take them to the vet, but not if I’m going to stress the heck out of her chasing her all over the house. Too bad he doesn’t make house calls. 😉
Perhaps a lightly (liquid-powdery) sedative-laced bit of tuna? Not to knock her out, just “take the edge off”.
I believe that I am much like a cat in this. It is not so much going ‘there’ as being able to go ‘there’ at will which pleases me.
Valerian root powder is a MAHvelous calmer for the kitties. Smells like dead gym socks, but sooo worth it. When my two who barely tolerate each other start to have a staredown, I pull out the little bin and sprinkle it liberally all over the house. Zoned out kitties within 30 minutes.
don’t you have to put something with the valerian to mask the bitter taste? I know it’s used in Europe as a sleep aid……I’ve tried it in capsules, and it seemed to help a little, but there were other complications I had, not related to the valerian……
