But by golly, I was determined to get well for my birthday. Which it is.
We’re celebrating a quiet one, and going out for the free steak you get on birthdays at Swinging Door, and that will do nicely.
Feeling well enough today we went out to breakfast at Waffles Plus, but came back and collapsed…still minimal energy.
But we so enjoyed seeing everybody. The skies are FINALLY blue, and the air is good and the pond is clear…of course, now that it’s just us.
Thanks to all for everything.
The writing’s going well…and we’re just about caught up, but Lord! we have to hose down the patio table and all: the combined dust and soot has left an incredible coating on everything.
May the ash do as good for your garden as Mt. St. Helen’s did for Washington apples. I remember having a hard time holding them because they were so large that year.
Happy, Happy Birthday! Quiet it may have been, but it sounds as though it was a lovely birthday. In my opinion, breakfast out + dinner out + no dirty dishes to wash = a happy birthday.
I’m very glad you and Jane are starting to perk up.
Have a positively excellent birthday and an outstanding year ahead. (“PAWSitively” is maybe too cute???) Glad your smoke is subsiding, and your allergies, I hope. You have been sending a lot of the smoke over the Rockies to Montana. It smells like a perpetual campfire — a nice smell, but not 24 hours a day!
Happy birthday!
Spouse has caught a cold, and I’m, thankfully, holding out against it (so far). We’ve eaten more garlic in two days than most people in two weeks.
Sounds like your birthday was a great one. ๐ I was at Swinging Doors a week too late to get the free steak, or I would have happily indulged as well!
Yep, Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!!!!
Bonne Anniversaire ร Toi!
Steak. Mmm. Must get a steak. — Happily omnivorous, here.
Many happy returns of the day, and get better soon the both of you. Sending virtual laulau, haupia, and cream puffs (not strictly Hawaiian, but Kodama Bakery makes broke da mout’ ones)!
I got such a good chuckle out of “broke da mout’ “. Tastes so good it broke da mout’, huh? ๐ Great phrase. I would love to visit Hawaii some day, but no idea if I’ll ever be able to afford it.
+ Happy Birthday!
Felicitations on a happy birthday. My personal take on birthdays is that after the first forty the novelty wears off, but you could use an excuse to party after all the alarms and excursions of the past while.
My favorite was 45; less housework ahead than behind!
Strangely, 45 was my worst of all. I don’t know why. Worse than 40 or 50. Of course, my friend Susan visited for almost a week for 50, so maybe that one shouldn’t count.
Oh, I am quite a bit older than 45. ๐ And I plan to celebrate later with a lake cruise and a nip or two.
Last night was great! Carrot cake, steak with peppercorn sauce, and baked potato. ๐
Now it’s back to work until we can organize the cruise.
not THAT much older, and besides, it’s only a number! ๐
So am I! ๐
happy birthday.
HIPY PAPY BTHUTHDTH THUTHDA BTHUTHDY, and many happy returns of the day!
a belated happy birthday, as one is on a texas to illinois road trip, and couldn’t get the wifi to work at the hotel last night. Would you ask Jane if the Wesser is playing tricks again? ๐
